Arc the Lad Collection

 

Fans of RPG and specially the fans of the Japanese game Arc the Lad will be please to know that now they can play for the first time in North America not only the original Arc the Lad but the second and the third plus Arc Arena that was renamed from Monster Tournament.

Arc the Lad Collection is the largest console RPG anthology ever released and the final game Working Designs published for the original PlayStation.

When you open the box, you will find the game box, the booklet and the Omake box.

In the game box there are 6 discs. One disc for the original Arc the Lad, an other for the Arc the Lad 2, an other for Arc Arena - Monster Tournament, 2 discs for Arc the Lad 3 and the last disc is called The Making of Arc the Lad.

The Booklet is done with a Leather cover with 2 red ribbons that has 150 thick and colorful pages where there are a nice designs of each character with a description plus useful information like on map and battle screen. 

Also at the end of the booklet in the Translation Notes you will learn information about what they have done to improve the games for the North American release like adding DUALSHOCK analog controller.

Omake is the Japanese word for Extra or Bonus. in the Omake box you will get exclusives Collectors Items like a Memory Card Holder, 4 Thumb Button Covers and 22 Character Mini-Standees that are divided like this: 8 Characters from Arc the Lad like Arc and Kukuru, 7 Characters from Arc the Lad 2 like Elc and Sania and 7 Characters from Arc the Lad 3 like Cheryl and Velhart.

In the first game you will play the role of a young man called Arc. 10 years ago Arc's father disappeared during a mysterious and furious storm. Since that day Arc has been obsessed with learning the fate of his father, So he trained himself for a long time and now he is a strong fighter and leaves to try to find out what happened to his father.

During your adventure you will meet many interesting characters like Kukuru and Tosh.

Before starting to play the first game you should play the Making of Arc the Lad. You will learn the history of Arc the Lad and how RPG game involved through the years on the PlayStation.

You will also hear from a range of people that work on this project like the President of Arc Entertainment, Ryoji Akagawa, the president of Working Designs, Victor Ireland, Seiichi Kuranishi senior Editor of Dengeki, Eri Okabe Editor of Enterbain, Osamu Yamazaki, Scenario Writer of Arc 3, Stephanie Komure, Graphic Artist, Ken Innes, Lead Progammer. Kelly Knight , Notional Sales Manager, Ryuichi Kunisue, Character Animator, Masaki Seki, CG Director, Akio Yoshioka, 3D CG and.

Arc Entertainment brought then new features like sound effect of voice during battle and the feature where you can link your save data from game1 to game 2,  quite common now but not then. Plus it was the first time and Orchestra was used to compose part of the the soundtrack in a game.

Plus you will be able to see and hear how they design part of the game like collapses of building and structures. They also like to use cutting edge technology that is why the animation are extremely well done.

After you have viewed the Making of Arc the Lad you will see why this game was such much in demands here plus you have the advantage of playing from game 1 then follow with the others without waiting years for the future releases.

Arc the Lad Collection has a lot of depth and will please any RPG fans and is certainly to be added in your collection specially if you are interested in history of RPG games on the PlayStation.

Working Designs just released Arc the Lad Official Strategy guide: Chapters 1 and 2 plus Chapter 3 will be released soon.

Also Working Designs confirmed to us that Arc for the PlayStation 2 is now in development and still no decision have been made on when and if they would release the game here. We will keep you posted on the matter as news comes in.
