Ready to race ?

Polyphony Digital Inc. and Sony Computer Entertainment are back again with the best racing simulation, this time with more fun and option in Gran Turismo 2.

Gran Turismo 2 has two discs, one for the simulation and the other an arcade mode for those who just do not like to fuss over every detail to start a race.

Although it is very similar to the first one, in this one you will also have an arcade mode that even includes a rally mode. The number of cars is enormous, over 500 including classics ones. More then 40 tracks are available for you to race on and to be unlocked.

The different manufacturers are divided by their original country. For instance East City is Japan and so on. The simulation mode will have you earn money again in order to upgrade your car but this time you can personalize your car with mags.

The soundtrack has been improved too with known bands like Beck, Cardigans, Soul Coughing, Apollo Four Forty, Stone Temple Pilots, Crystal Method, Foo Fighters, Gearwhore and Garbage.

More then 50 license tests are in it, 35 more than the original.

Do some Rally

Race in a  Mustang

Gran Turismo 2 is very similar in play to the first and it still does not have the realism of damaged cars like in Driver. Also when you want to upgrade your parts all cost the same price, like all the Mags are worth $2000 which takes the fun out of upgrading really. Some prices are quite too much like washing your car for $5000. Having more options to customize the look of your car would have been welcome. The menu needs improvement too because in some place the writing is way too small.

But this game has a lot a pluses too, the design of some tracks are very well done which will give tremendous challenges for the expert drivers. The fact that you have a huge numbers of cars with their own manufacturers including classics cars is quite unique. The sound track is good too because on top of having known bands doing it each car has its own sound.

Gran Turismo 2 is very much the same as the first one, but this time it has an arcade mode with rally which will please a broader audience. The simulation mode has more licenses and cars to acquire that will keep your interest for a long time.
