The creators of Wild Arms brings you Legend of Legaia !

Last year Sony published a charming role-playing game called Wild Arms. This year the same team that was responsible for Wild Arms (Contrail) returns with Legend of Legaia, a new RPG with a new history and new characters.

Legend of Legaia is the history of three friends, Vahn, Noha and Gala, who decides to undertake the serious mission of saving the world against a malefic fog which transforms all that it touches in hideous monsters. To destroy this danger the three companions must reanimate the Genesis Trees scattered everywhere on the land. the magical light which they release will destroy the mist.

The whole game is in three dimensions, but the graphics, though sometimes very surprising, are less impressive most of the time than in other role-playing games. But RPG are not generally recognized for their visual beauty but for their story. On this side, Legend offers a good story but perhaps not enough diversity as the majority of recent games of the same type accustomed us too. And the three heroes miss some personality and as a result, you care less about them.

"Let the battle begin! "

"Hi little one!"

Moving around is also much too slow, which not only makes the game longer but also results in many more random battles, which can tire some players.

The most impressive thing in the game is the battle system. The battles (a little like Xenogear but take one step further) are carried out as if you were in a combat game (Tekken 3). At the beginning of the engagement you enter the movements and combos which you want execute (Up, Up, Down, Triangle, Triangle) and your character will do a succession of movements which can sometimes inflict great damage on your enemies.

It is also possible during your adventure to find small animals called Ra-Seru which become part of your character and gives new abilities during combat.

Graphically the battles are more impressive than the rest of the game (a little like Wild Arms) and even your changes of armour and weapons are visible during the engagements.

In spite of its bad sides, Legend of Legaia is a wonderful experience that fans of role-playing games should not miss!
