Publish exclusively on PlayStation by Electronic Arts and developed by DreamWorks Interactive, Medal of Honor is the first action - adventure game based on WWII. Steven Spielberg co-founder of Dream Works got the idea of it while filming "Saving Private Ryan". He wanted to do a game that truly reflected this era as must as possible. So that is why he asked Captain Dale Dye ( he is the top military consultant in the entertainment industry and well for being a consultant in movies like Save Private Ryan, Mission Impossible and Platoon) to consult with the development team in order to bring as much realisms in the game like for the weapons, missions and the movement of the enemies. The game start on the night before D-day and as the Allies prepare to attack the German by air. You will assume the role of a young pilot called, lieutenant Jimmy Patterson, an agent of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). then you see a plane fly over your head then you hear gunshots in the back then the music start to get you in the a suspense mood. The sound of this game is quite exquisite they took a real orchestra to make it. Over all you have more then 70 pieces of music which makes a total of over an hour of soundtrack. The result of this extensive sounds production plunges you into an ambiance like never seen before that put you on the edge of your seat through the entire game. Medal of Honor gives you 7 missions and 24 levels to explore. Each missions is drawn on crucial historical events that that helped the Allies to win the war like destruction of of secret war-making technologies or the captures made by the Allies. Also in each levels you will experience different elements that will change some situations. You will encounter some dogs, hear conversation from the enemies from far away, whistles, echoes of footsteps in tunnels, destroyed trucks and ruins everywhere. All these elements were included to give a sense of what was really WWII like. At the end of each missions you can earn a medal and of course if you earn them all, you will get the "Medal of Honor" Weapons wise you will be able to use the machine guns that are mounted on sand bags where you shoot the enemy. You will be found then through out the game placed at different strategic place on the field.

 Become an Impostor to fool the enemy When you use it, the image on screen will shake in order to show the power of this machine guns.In total you have 12 authentic WWII weapons like the American Colt45, American M-1 Garand Rifle and the browning Automatic Rifle, Bazookas and grenades. The characters also have many movements like kneeling and being able to move while still kneeling down. The AI (Artificial Intelligence) as a lot of depth too with the possibility to do more the 450 different movements that is why if you through a grenade to an enemy you better watch yourself because it can kick it back to you or simply pick it up and through it back at you. And when you charge against an enemy, he will will draw back while facing you with his weapons aiming at you if you shoot him he will be thrown by the impact of the bullet on him. You will have 20 different enemies to face through out the game or you can play against a friend in a vertical split screen where you choose different combinations of weapons, the level and the appearance your soldier will take. The game still has a few bugs in it that will give you some problem when you shoot like on the first level where you hide behind a rock to shoot bullets will not get to the target instead it get stuck in the invisible part of the rock. This problem will repeat itself on other levels too also if you go near walls too much at some place the image vibrates and you get easily stuck quite difficult to control in places that are narrow. But Medal of Honor gives us a real feeling of how it was in WWII without too much extreme violence so that it can be rated "T" by the ERSB. Like I mention before the sound production of this game is outstanding and should be nominated in the Emmy's for best soundtrack for games. The design of each levels was well done and the AI makes the soldiers as real as possible. Medal of Honor is an excellent game shooter's game combine with adventure based on the WWII that makes you think before you go charging the enemies because they will retaliate at you differently then you are use too in these type of games that will keep your interest for a long time. So if you love games like Quake or the war itself you will love Medal of Honor. |
