NASCAR 2001

Developed by Black Box Games and published by EA Sports which are well known for their outstanding sports game brings us their latest racing game NASCAR 2001.

In the main menu you can choose from Quick Race, Single or a Multiplayer game with a friend. The season mode is available for both mode. 3 levels of difficulty is also available Rookie, Veteran and Legend.

34 professionals drivers like Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte and Dale Jarrett can be selected. Or you can created your own driver and car between Ford, Chevrolet and Pontiac then paint and tag it as you wish.

With the Garage option you can adjust options like Tire Pressure, Down Force, Fuel Load and Wheel Lock.

With NASCAR 2001 you will be able to race for the first time in a NASCAR videogame the Daytona 500. 19 tracks in total can be raced on like the Indianapolis, Texas and Darlington. Night racing is available on tracks like the Richmond and Bristol.

Also 5 fantasy races are set in Hawaii, Kansas, New - York, San Francisco, Colorado plus 3 Bonus one can be unlocked.

The soundtrack of the game include 2 unreleased songs from Widespread Panic other tracks are from Gov't Mule and the Kenny Wayne Shepherd bands.

When you race it will take a lot in order that your car get destroyed, you can run into a wall and it will barely get scratched like in Daytona USA.

The stop that you make at the Pit is well done you can see all the crews working on refueling and changing the tires but you do not have the control of your own vehicle so you can not leave quickly in order to save time.

The same situation occurs when their is a yellow flag it takes a long time to start again because you have to watch yourself drive the entire track before regaining the control.

The commentators still needs to be improved in order to give us more feel of the game.

NASCAR 2001 has good clip of the real NASCAR drivers in action to plunge us in the action and for their fans. The control is quite responsive to what you want to do and makes you feel like you are really racing when you see the vibration of the cockpit.

But the major change is the new engine that gives you better graphics with and a superior AI. The new engine has the ability of reproducing the real-life drivers tendencies and attributes that matches their style of racing giving this game more realisms then ever.

The fact that you can play multiple seasons increase the replay value.

NASCAR 2001 is better then ever and will be well appreciated among the NASCAR 's fans and if ever wanted to race a NASCAR car this game is surely a good start.
