NCAA FINAL FOUR

Wednesday March 10, 1999

Finally a good collegial basketball game hit the playstation.

Very popular in the United States, collegial basketball games are a little less known here. Specially the ones intended for fans of this kind, NCAA Final Four is developed by Killergame and published by 989 Studios.

If you leave aside the fact that Final Four puts in teams from american colleges the game is much like Shoot Out 99 (basketball game from 989 Studios with the NBA teams) with some extra. First of all the addition of a shooting indicator which makes the game easier for the beginners. There are also the menus which are all well structured and easy to read.

The majority of options which one can hope from a basketball game are available, and Final Four has even more team than NCAA March Madness 99 (EA Sport).

"He shoot, he score ! "

"In the 2 points zone"

The game has its faults nevertheless, in particular the artificial intelligence which seems to cheat some time. You see at certain times, the opposing team players seem being able to teleport themselve right in front of you to block your pass. It is also easy to fool the other team with every time the same tactics ! But those are minor annoyances that should not discourage you from playing this game.

On another side the graphics are very well done and the action on the court is fast and fun. Also, if you have one or two multitaps you can invite up to 8 friends for a quick game or two.

Final Four is easily the best collegial game of basketball on the market, but since it is really necessary to be a basketball fan to know the teams, the audience which will like this game is limited.
