Finaly a snowmobile game!

Like Henri Ford is the father or cars in the early 1900 well Joseph - Armand Bombardier from Valcourt, Québec is the father of the snow mobile. At the age of 15 he developed the first snowmobile but only market is first one in 1936 called the B-7 machine which was more of of passenger one then move on to the B-12 . But only in 1959 his famous "Ski-Doo" was born.

Unfortunately in Sled Storm you will not be able to drive one but never the less it is the first snowmobile game on the market and for a first one it is good.

At the start of the game you either play by yourself or in a multiplayer mode. Up to 4 players is allow in the race at the same time. The game mode are Quick Race lets you race right away, Time Trials is where you race against your best time with your ghost. The main mode is the Championship that consist of a series of races where you try to be the best racer.

Two type of Championship are available. In the Open Mountain, you need to get the best time and earns points where you can convert into cash after so you can upgrade your snowmobile. And the Super Snocross their is no money to win but you need to earns as much point as possible to unlock special characters.

6 riders are available to start with all have different abilities and trick skills that they can do. More then 15 tricks kind of like the one you can do on a dirt bike are available for you to try while you race but not all the character can do everything so you have to try different character to experience them all.

Play up to 4 players

Race at night

You also will have 15 different courses to race on.

Sled Storm is mostly an arcade racing game with snowmobile and has a unrealistic gameplay meaning that while you race you earn points by running down rabbits and signs even snowmen which in reality you would never see that in a snowmobile race. The sound of the snowmobile sounds the same no matter which character you choose. You have third and first person view to choose from although quite fun to see the tracks up close when you do high jump you loose part of the view so it is harder to land. The tracks also are kind of short would be nice to have longer courses.

The best thing you will find in this game is actually the movement of the racer you see from the third person. it is very interesting and fun to watch them jump and perform their tricks. The snowmobile are pretty well design but the background scenery is even better at some point you can see the mountains in the back which give you the feeling of really being surrounded by beautiful mountains. also the soundtrack was made by with songs of artist like Rob Zombie and Econoline Crush to get you into a competitive mood.

Hopefully they will make a Sled Storm 2 for us to enjoy with some Ski-Doo or Polaris next time for us to try. So If you always wanted to drive a snowmobile or are fans of that sport well Sled Storm will surely entertain you on your PlayStation.
