Rayman Advance

Developed by Digital Eclipse and produced here in Montreal by Ubi Soft, Rayman Advance is the same game that came out on the PlayStation in 1995 but with added minor adjustment which makes it in return the best looking game on the Game Boy Advance.

For those who are not familiar with the game, Rayman is a cute multicolor hero that used to live in an harmonious and balance world maintained by the Great Protoon. But one day Mr.Dark steals the Great Protoon therefore disrupting the gravity by not being there to hold the Electoons around the world properly and they are now all scattered everywhere in cages. So now Rayman has to free all of the Electoons and recapture the Great Protoon in order to bring back the harmony to his world.

The Electoons are trapped into cages in total you have 102 cages spread on 17 environments through 6 beautiful world; the Dream Forest, Band Land, Blue Mountains, Picture City, the Caves of Skops and the Candy Chateau. There is 60 levels plus 10 bonus one to explore.

At the beginning of the game, Rayman can walk, jump, crawl and climb vines and as you progress in your game the Fairy Betilla will grant you new powers like a punching and a grabbing fist, run, hang on platform and a special helicopter feature. All of the powers she give you are permanent. Friends of Rayman like Joe the Extra-Terrestrial will give you temporary powers like the magic seed, super helicopter, firefly and the ability to shrink.

Through out your exploration you have blue Ting to pick-up every time you have an 100 you get a free live.

They did some modification on the game in order improve it and to remove the frustration of some part of the game like you get 5 lives at the start instead of 3, 4 dots instead of 3, Rayman does not jump back in diagonal anymore and the timing of the jump has been improved.

Rayman is the biggest character done on the Game Boy Advance some might find him a bit too big compare to the background and wonder where to go sometimes but if you study the game closely you will always know where to go.

Rayman does a few sound it would of been fun to hear more of him.

But the first thing that will catch your attention is the outstanding graphics. The graphics are 4 layers deep running at a 60 frames per seconds which makes it the best looking game on the Game Boy Advance so far.

The Gameplay is extensive and has a lot of depth to keep your interest with over 40 hours of Gameplay.

Rayman Advance is an absolute must see game in order to appreciate the graphical power of the Game Boy Advance to the fullest plus the fact that Rayman will entertainment you for many hours.
