LADYDRAGON.COM - Star Wars: Episode 1: Racer

Developed and publish by Lucas Art, Star Wars: Episode 1: Racer give you the chance to play the game in the famous movie Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phamtom Manace.

In the movie the young 9 years old boy called Anakin Skywalker races with special racing vehicle called a Podracers that flies a few feet belong the ground and is 30 feet long with an acceleration that can attaint a speed up to 600 mph.

In Star Wars: Episode 1: Racer not only will you be able to race as Anakin with his Podracer but you will also have the chance to race 22 others on 25 unique courses spread on 8 different massive worlds called Aquilaris, Ando Prime, Baroonda, Mon Gazza, Malastare, Oovo IV, Tatooine and Ord Ibanna.

The main screen present you with 5 choices; Tournament, Free Play, Time Attack, 2 players and Internet.

The Tournament is done on the Galatic Circuit which it is divided in 3 levels of difficulty where you must finish 4th or better in order to unlock the next race but 3rd or better to unlock the Invitational track. And you have gone through the 3 tournaments you will unlock your ultimate goal the Boonta Eve Classic championship race.

With Free Play you can race the tracks that you have unlocked so far. Time Attack lets you race by yourself to test your speed. 2 players lets you play with a friend.

The Internet option allows you to go on the their official site to get update on events and contest, get more information on the Podracers,

upgrades options or strategies to help you win, see the World ranking and upload yours also or simply chat with other fans.

When you select Tournament you will have 6 Podracers to choose from when you start. As you win more races other Podracers will be unlock for a total of 23.

Then you can go inspect your Podracers, buy part or Pit Droids for it at Watto's shop or go to the Junkyard if you want to buy used parts.

Before each races you an introduction of the world where you are about to races and who is hosting it.

When you race you can choose from 4 camera view from third person view to the first. Different views is also available for the in-race screen where you see information like engine status and speed indicators or repair and a map.

When you race only the Sebulba Podracer has some kind of weapon that you can use against your competitor it is called the flamejet which will make your opponent engine go on fire when you fire it more other different Podracers with weapons would of been welcome.

The graphics of the 8 worlds are really nice to look at but if you do that while you are trying to win a race you will crash into something because you go fast so better do that when are losing one. And The soundtrack is great since it is after all a Lucas Art production.
