Super Bust-a-Move

Taito and Club Acclaim bring us their first puzzle game on the PlayStation 2 called Super Bust-a-Move.

The game is quite simple you have different color of bubbles that you need to eliminate by pointing to them with one of the same color. But you must hurry because the puzzle is sliding down toward you quickly every few seconds when they are all cleared you win.

You have also special bubble to help you like the Star bubble. In this game you will also have obstacle like square in the middle or conveyor belt that will alter your aiming of the bubble.

Your characters are new compare to the one on the Dreamcast. You have Mog, Pinky, Wolo, Miss T. Tom & Yam, Mr @, PuKadon. Other can be unlock like Funcila and Katze. The only one remaining are Bud and Bob and they are the one giving you the bubbles when you play.

You have 3 game mode 1P Puzzle where you play stages named after the alphabet if you have never play the game before you have a training mode to introduce the game then you can choose from the Classic and Normal mode, CPU Player is where you play against a cpu player and 2P Battle allows you to play with a friend.

Compare to the Dreamcast one you do not have a story mode and you can not create your own puzzle. Unfortunately characters do not talk and their animations are less spectacular. The game does not slow down even when their is a lot of chain reaction while you hit the bubbles but the movement of the pointer is too slow specially when it is a difficult stage where time is the essence.

They remove the big points so you can see better what you are doing. The background graphics are animated and nicely done specially the constellation one. They also added different shape of the arena you play in plus some obstacle like squares and the Belt conveyor is a good idea it really will make you think on how you are aiming.

New bubbles have been introduce like the tiny bubbles that will make the stages even more challenging and the captive bubbles that hold some characters inside of them. When you rescue them a thank you to you will be display.

Although Super Bust-a-move has not the depth of the one done on the Dreamcast it is still a fun game that all the family can enjoy.
