Turn based strategy and role plating all in one!

Disciples comes to us from Strategy First, a small computer gaming company based out of Montreal Canada. You might know them from games such as clans, and man of war 1 & 2. With a name like Strategy First you know this company means serious business.

As hard and confusing some RPG's and strategy games can be, disciples was surprisingly easy to get going. It presented the easiest menu that you could come across, Single Player, Multiplayer, Intro, Credits, and Quit. It does not get simpler than that. The game is centered around medieval times, with knights, archers, wizards, magic and all the other classic fantasy characters. The game is a mixture of Turn Based strategy and Role Playing, which gives the game its unique feel. Plenty of help screens pop up for you so you know what you are doing.

I started the game up as soon as I got in. The object of my saga was to take over my opponents main city (or kingdom). Building teams of warriors and setting your city  for advancements, you then set out over an enchanted map, battling mystic creatures and your opponent(s) to further your ultimate goal of domination. But you must always make sure to have harvested enough resources to make that happen. In disciples you will need to use your head to make smart decisions every exciting turn.

Graphics in disciples are not the best in the world but are still reasonably good and not bad to look at.

"My glorious kingdom"

"Organizing a group of fighters"

Like most turn based strategy games it is always rough keeping track of all your teams and their movements and actions, in disciples it's the same, but a bit better than most.

Disciples screams fun in every aspect, it is always nice to sit down to a game that keeps you entertained. The unique mix of the game types in disciples contributes to this games fun factor. Sound and music are very appropriate for the game, with nice medieval music to set the environment, setting the mood well.

Sounds of swords clashing, arrows flying in the air, and casting of spells are further details in the game that make Disciples more interesting and time worthy. Control is not a problem in Disciples, point and click control is as easy as it comes. A great feature in the game is the auto save feature. After every turn (or day in the game) Disciples will  auto save. This feature is very handy, because some people forget to save their games and might lose all the time they spent working on their game. (Especially in RTS and RPG games)

Disciples might not have a million dollar graphics engine, but it sure makes up for it with a million dollars worth of game play and fun. Strategy First did a wonderful job of making a game blend that is incredibly fun to play and extremely original.
