E3, which stands for the electronic Entertainment Exposition, is the first day of the year in the interactive entertainment industry, where all the major game companies and others that make this industry run, like the media and the consumers that will buy all these products in the year to come, can come see and and try them before they come out on the market. Not all the games are shown on the floor, some are only shown to the media or specific buyers, but a good portion of them are there for you to try.

The E3 is hosted and owned by the IDSA - Interactive Digital Software Association which also owns the ERSB - The Entertainment Rating Software Board. The ERSB has rated over 6000 titles since its inception in order to help guide and educate the consumer when they are going to make a purchase.

The IDSA released an important survey at the beginning of the trade show to clarify some myths concerning this industry, such as "Only kids play and purchase games", the survey revealed that the average player is 28 year old and that 97% of all people that purchase PC games and 87% of those who purchase console games are 18 years old or older.

You can read more about the IDSA survey here.
