Prepare yourself to go back to the age of the great Fleets!

In the gaming industry, some subjects companies use over and over to base their games on, but the naval war genre, with ancient sailboats, was left untouched for a long time. Now Strategy First brings us a new one: Man of War 2

Man of War 2 puts you in command of an important naval war fleet in the Age of Sail. To start with you need to transmit your orders through a map. The game has a 3D perspective which gives you a perfect view so you wont miss the action like the damage effects, the sound of the sail and flag rippling in the wind, the smoke cloud left by the cannons after firing and much more.

It will take you 4 minutes to transmit your orders and that is the for one turn. You can transmit about 15 different orders with flags signals.

Man of War 2 has over 12 different historical scenarios that can be played, including the major naval wars that were fought in the years 1765 and 1815. There are also ten long scenarios for the ascension of English Commander through the naval fleet. Also included is a character creation editor so you can customize your own character and a scenario editor. The scenario editor is flexible and easy to use so you can add more action and play to your game.

The ships are not all the same, you have different kinds depending on who built them so the quality of ships differs from one to the other.

Man of War II

"What a Magnificent ship to see at sea!"

Learning how to command a complex and extensive fleet like that takes time. So you will need to be patient and persistent even if you don't succeed at first. The information concerning the history of the events and the ships could have been more in-depth. It would have been nice to know a bit more about this fascinating time and those magnificent ships.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) and controls are very good. The ships follow your orders quite well. There is nothing worse than to lose a war because the AI does not get your orders properly.

You have a large numbers of naval wars to choose from, so it will bring you many hours of interesting play. That is without counting the editor which will bring you even more interesting twists, especially since it is very simple to set. The sounds are realistic and the graphics are a lot of fun to watch with these ships.

Man of War 2 is a very good game especially if you like the Age of Sail, or if you like ships altogether. It is a very original and well made game that will bring you many hours of good gameplay.
