UPEK and Agile Web Solutions Demo Eikon Fingerprint Reader and 1Password Password Manager Combination at Macworld

UPEK and Agile Web Solutions Preview Ability for Mac Users to Access Password-Protected Websites With the Simple Swipe of a Finger

Macworld Conference & Expo 2009

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UPEK®, Inc, the leading provider of fingerprint sensors embedded into laptop computers, and Agile Web Solutions, Inc. today announced that the companies will be demonstrating at Macworld the Eikon® Digital Privacy Manager integrated with 1Password Password Manager, enabling Mac users to access password-protected websites with the simple swipe of a finger. The companies will be previewing the Eikon-1Password integration at the Macworld Expo to show attendees and the press at booth 3526 (Digital Media and Multimedia Section) in the North Hall of the Moscone Center in San Francisco Jan 5-9.

The integration of the Eikon fingerprint reader with 1Password software has been developed in response to popular demand from the Mac community. The award-winning Eikon Digital Privacy Manager, available in Apple online and retail stores, is a USB peripheral fingerprint reader bundled with Protector Suite® software that allows Mac users to simply swipe their finger instead of memorizing and typing passwords when logging in, unlocking screensaver, switching users, modifying secure preferences, and accessing parental controls. 1Password, the most popular password manager for Mac OS X, keeps track of web passwords so that Mac users can use strong and unique passwords that they don’t have to remember.

Combining the Eikon Digital Privacy Manager and 1Password addresses both the security risks and inconvenience of creating, remembering and entering passwords for the many websites Mac users are required to log into from their personal and work computers. People often use passwords in ways that make them easier to remember but at the same time make them easier to be compromised, for example using simple passwords, using the same password for more than one website, writing down passwords on sticky notes, and using password reset questions with answers that can be found on the Internet such as Mother’s Maiden Name. The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager and 1Password let Mac users employ strong and unique passwords that they no longer need to remember or type in - they simply swipe their finger.

The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager, which supports Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard in addition to Windows XP and Vista operating systems, is available in Apple’s online and retail stores.

A beta version of the Protector Suite / 1Password combination is planned to be available end of January 2009. For more information, please visit www.upek.com/mac.
