Caroline Wozniacki will not be back for 2010 ASB Classic

Top ten stocks running out for 2010 ASB Classic with US Open runner-up Caroline Wozniacki the latest to opt for an alternative event

ASB Classic tournament director Brenda Perry remains hopeful of securing a top ten player for the 2010 event, despite missing out on US Open runner-up Caroline Wozniacki.

The Dane played here in January this year, but has signed on to compete in a Hong Kong exhibition next year, the same week as the Auckland tournament. Defending champion and world number five Elena Dementieva has already ruled out returning.

Perry says there are still a couple of options open to them in the top ten. She says they are still talking and negotiating with a few top players and are aiming to attract a marquee player.

Brenda Perry has refused to be drawn on whether she has been in talks with 2007 ASB Classic champion Jelena Jankovic about a return.

The 2010 ASB Classic dates are 4-9 January 2010.
